APPLICATION GUIDE 
for
Tanning Solution
Please read carefully as we have developed a very
user-friendly and realistic UV-Free Tanning Solution. Follow these
guidelines and the results will be what you and your clients are
seeking.
PROPER APPLICATION AND THE RIGHT SOLUTION IS EVERYTHING!!!
1. SHAKE THE
SOLUTION WELL!!!
Our solution is handmade in small quantities with no
chemical additives or stabilizers. As we continue to make a product as
natural as possible, it is NECESSARY AND VERY IMPORTANT to
shake the solution before EACH and EVERY application!!!
2. SET P.S.I.
CORRECTLY There
is no correct answer to “What level to set the P.S.I.?” Every
airbrush (brand, single-action, double-action, etc.), sprays differently
and every compressor delivers air in many different formats (direct,
stored, etc.). We suggest you start out with a P.S.I. delivery (airbrush
spraying) at 10-12 and work from there. Depending on your application
style, the distance you apply from (6-8 inches is recommended), and your
equipment, the P.S.I. level can vary from as low as 8 P.S.I. to as much
as 18 P.S.I. Less is better but your style and equipment will be the
deciding factor.
3. USE
2 OZ
OR LESS OF SOLUTON.
The correct
amount to use per application is 2 oz or less. Never use more unless
you or your client are physically above average (large).
4. APPLY
TWO LIGHT COATS.
DO NOT over-apply.
When applied correctly, you or your client will have little (or no) excess
rub off. If you apply more than the recommended amount, there will be
more excess rub off and possibly the color that develops will not look
natural. With our solution too little is better than too much! When
applied correctly you or your client will almost be dry upon completion.
A few minutes in front of a fan and you or your client will be done with
no sticky feeling. With the proper amount and correct application, there
should never be a “wet” look; a slight “sheen” is what you
should see. If you do see a “wet” look, don’t panic because our
product is very forgiving. Just let it dry a minute or two and very
lightly pat the “wet” area and you or your client will still end up
with a nice evenly developed tan.
5. USE
“BRONZE BOOSTER DROPS” FOR YOU OR A CLIENT WHO NEEDS A DARKER COLOUR
GUIDE.
Colour Me Hydrated is neither too dark nor too light; it is JUST RIGHT. Our colour guide (the bronzer that gives that "instant
tan" and washes off in the shower) provides a very natural
“TAN” look. When applied correctly, the DHA color that develops over
the 10 to 12 hours will be very close to the “walk out the door”
look. If you have used other products in the past with very dark color
guides/bronzers and try to duplicate the same look with our product
minus the drops, you will probably over apply and not have the end
result you or your client seeks. The “Bronze Booster Drops”
available will only darken the colour guide.
6. EXPLAIN THE
CURE TIME.
The
recommended cure time before showering is 10-12 hours for the best
results, but you or your client can shower in as little as 5-6 hours.
7. KEEP THE
SOLUTION PROPERLY STORED. HEAT,
AIR, and/or LIGHT will destroy “Colour Me Hydrated” solution. Keep
it in a cool area (fridge or cooler work great) and keep the cap on
TIGHT.
8. BEADING?
If you notice
“BEADING” on the skin or hair, you are either spraying too close to
the client or setting your P.S.I. at the wrong level or having problems
because of your client’s skin type and/or spraying your client who is
lacking proper skin prep.
9. SKIN
TYPE AND DHA
% The best
DHA % and understanding the different Skin Types are VERY important
considerations. Our website and
brochure has great explanations as to what % of DHA you should use on
your or your client’s skin and why. We suggest you review this
information carefully and always start with a low DHA % product and work
your way up.
10. REALISTIC
EXPECTATIONS.
If you or your
client is NOT a “Nubian Princess” to start with then you or your
client will NEVER be one. DHA will only take your or your client's skin
color to a certain natural-looking level. If you try to make someone
darker than they should be, the outcome will be very unnatural looking.
Unrealistic expectations are and will continue to be a problem in our
industry until we educate ourselves and our clients as to what is
“real” and what is “wishful thinking”.
11. DON’T
MIX. Our
product is a solution to be applied with spray-tanning equipment!
Any other methods, such as homemade mixes or additives not supplied by
Colour Me Hydrated, could greatly affect the end result.
